Oscars for everyone

Fans have taken to Twitter to demand that Lady Gaga and the film A Star Is Born feature heavily in the nominations for the Oscars 2019.

The new music epic, which stars Gaga and Bradley Cooper, was released earlier this month to rave reviews. A remake of the 1937 film of the same name, the movie tells the tale of a hard-drinking musician who falls in love with a young singer who is attempting to make a name for herself.

Reviewing the soundtrack, NME wrote: “A Star is Born is one of the best Hollywood soundtracks of recent years. Far from being Oscar bait, these are songs that could feasibly shine on their own – and ones that feel entirely believable. Along with Best Actor gongs for Gaga and Cooper, a musical gong might just be in order too…”

US talk show host Ellen sent Twitter ablaze, when she declared that the film should be heavily featured in the Oscars next year. Gaga fans took online to share their chorus of praise:

Meanwhile, conspiracy theorists have also claimed that Lady Gaga fans are posting negative reviews of the film ‘Venom’ in order to enhance the success of ‘A Star Is Born‘.

Speaking to NME about the scenes shot at Glasto, Cooper said: “Oddly enough, if you’ve ever been to Glastonbury you know that feeling of comfort with 300,000 people – you feel safe. Once I got on stage center, I felt very comfortable but the road to that was very terrifying!”

In the film, Cooper’s Maine falls in love with Ally (Lady Gaga), a talented young waitress-cum-singer as their careers head in entirely different trajectories.

Hailing his co-star’s acclaimed performance, Cooper said: “I was bowled over by how courageous she is and what an incredible artist – even beyond what I thought. But you know she’s not Lady Gaga, she’s an actress and she’s incredible at it. That’s the key of the character I asked her to play.

“When someone’s as good as she is in that role, you think that she must be playing herself. But she’s not, she’s playing Ally Campana – which is everything a director could’ve asked for.”

Meanwhile, the A Star Is Born soundtrack is currently battling Twenty One Pilots’ new album ‘Trench’ for the UK Number One spot
