Things are about to get darker...

Weezer have finally announced ‘The Black Album’, with the band releasing its lead single ‘Can’t Knock The Hustle’ and its accompanying video, which stars Fall Out Boy‘s Pete Wentz – check it out below.

The four-piece’s long-awaited album was first spoken of by frontman Rivers Cuomo back in February 2017, with the record originally intended to be a sequel to April 2016’s ‘The White Album’. However, Weezer instead took the decision to release ‘Pacific Daydream’ in October 2017, which halted the production of ‘The Black Album’.

Speaking to NME, Rivers Cuomo described ‘The Black Album’ at the time as being “darker” and “more experimental and wildly negative”. He explained: “It’s experimenting with more modern electronic elements. It has one foot in the future and one foot in the past. The foot in the past would be like The Jesus & Mary Chain.”

The official announcement of ‘The Black Album’ today (October 11) has been spearheaded by the release of its lead single ‘Can’t Knock The Hustle’. Produced by TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, the funky track has also been given its own music video – starring Wentz as a Lyft driver enduring the worst shift of his life.

You can watch Weezer’s Jerry Media-produced video for ‘Can’t Knock The Hustle’ below.
