John Lithgow is seemingly everywhere lately, and he’s following up his Emmy-nominated portrayal of Winston Churchill in The Crown with a return to Broadway.

The veteran actor is bringing John Lithgow: Stories by Heart, a solo show filled with personal stories about his parents and grandmother, to the Great White Way.

In 2008, Lithgow performed the show in repertory at Lincoln Center, telling one story each night. Since then, he has toured it around the country and evolved it into a one-night performance.

Described as a “one-man theatrical memoir,” the show finds Lithgow playing upward of 11 characters and weaves in short stories by the likes of Ring Lardner and P.G. Wodehouse.

Daniel Sullivan will direct the Roundabout Theatre Company production, which opens Jan. 11 at the American Airlines Theatre. The limited engagement is slated to run through March.

Lithgow is no stranger to the stage, having made his name as an actor in his 1973 Broadway debut, The Changing Room, which earned him a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. He has since made memorable appearances in straight plays and musicals alike, most recently in 2014’s A Delicate Balance.
