Sometimes you just need to hug it out.

Hometown: London / Kings Lynn, UK

How would you describe your  music to people who had never heard it before? For someone who has never been to one of your shows, what can they expect to see at a performance?

I'd say our music is quite rocky and energetic, but with incredibly poetic lyrics. James has this beautiful way of telling stories, and making them fit in songs. Our live show again is energetic, we like to get the crowd involved and make people feel something.

Who are some of your musical influences? What aspects of their music drew you all to them and in what ways have they inspired you all?

We all have different influences, but I guess my first love for drums came from Nirvanas Nevermind. As soon as I heard 'smells like teen spirit' I knew I wanted to be a drummer. As a band we take quite a lot of influence from Ryan Adams, Foo Fighters, maybe a bit of Oasis. I can't really pick one influence though. We just write what we want, and it naturally just sounds like this.

From what else does the band draw inspiration for it’s music?

A lot of our music comes from being in a really possible place, mentally. We all get along so well, and when the band is surrounded by positive vibes, it helps bring out the best in us. We all hang out a lot outside of the band, which I think helps too.

Tell us about All These Countless Nights.

Well we released our latest album a couple of months ago. To be honest the past three years have been a massive struggle, and it nearly didn't happen! We've been through quite a lot together over the past few years and I fell out of love with music. I guess this record represents us all reigniting that flame again.

What's the songwriting process like?

I love the songwriting process. James comes up with the main bulk of the song. Then we all get together and play the songs, changes bits, try new things. Then when we feel like we're ready, we go into the studio and start tracking.

Can you explain how you chose the band name?

It came from college. We basically just threw two names together and thought it sounded unusual, so we kept it. Looking back, we probably should have changed it, but once things started happening for us, it was too late.

What was that defining moment when you knew you were meant to create music and how did you go about it?

For me it was when people started showing up to our gigs. When we'd sell 1000 / 2000 tickets in each city, we realized people cared a lot about our music. It's such a cool feeling to be able to halo as inspire people with the songs you've written.

Tell us about one of your favorite or most memorable performances.

The most recent tour we've just done in the UK was one of my favorites so far. We've been away for so long, and to come back with a new record, get it to No. 5 in the charts, and sell out the Forum in London was absolutely mental. The crow were wild and singing along to every word. It was amazing.

What’s in store for 2017?

Well I'm now sitting on a train to London because we go to Germany tonight to start our EU tour, so there's that! Then we have a shed load of festivals to play over the summer, followed by more touring! Hopefully we get to visit America, Australia, Japan etc. I just want to take ATCN to as many different countries as possible.

Is there anything else about the band you’d like to add?

Just check out the new record if you have time, and hopefully you'll like it!
