The one-off programme will see Peter Capaldi in his final appearance as the Doctor
The Doctor Who Christmas special will be screened first in multiple venues in the north of England ahead of its BBC premiere on Christmas Day.
The special will see Peter Capaldi in his final appearance as the Doctor before he hands over the reins to Jodie Whittaker – who will be the 13th Doctor.
Ahead of its premiere on BBC One on December 25, the Doctor Who Christmas special will be shown on big screens in venues across the north as part of the BBC’s preview of its Christmas Day schedule. The likes of Hartlepool, York, Manchester and Bradford are among the places that will be treated to the special preview screenings.
New episodes of the League of Gentleman will also be screened in York and Hull, while The Highway Rat, BBC One’s adaptation of the Julia Donaldson book, will be screened for younger viewers in Newcastle and Hull ahead of its Christmas Day premiere.
Tickets will be allocated via ballot, with 45% of the tickets going to local postcodes, 45% to the surrounding county and 10% to the rest of the UK. Full details are available to view here.
