When it comes to makeup, there’s nothing Vanessa Hudgens is afraid to try.
The actress experiments all the time, whether she’s sporting a red and yellow sunset smoky eye, bold turquoise shadow or even nearly black lipstick. So when famed nail polish brand Sinful Colors asked Hudgens to team up as its Global Color Collaborator for the launch of its first-ever cosmetics collection, the star knew right away it would be a perfect fit.
“Sinful Colors always has the best [nail] colors, is well-packaged, pigmented and just a really great nail line. I’ve always been a fan,” Hudgens told PeopleStyle. “I love expressing myself through makeup and now I get to collaborate with them and bring fans something they can express themselves with.”
Hudgens has been a longtime makeup lover: “I’ve been doing my own makeup since I was probably six years old.” So consulting with the brand to develop the perfect shades for its cosmetics launch was a dream come true. “Oh my gosh, it was heaven!” Hudgens told us. “I just sat at a table with all these different color pigments, bases, glitters and options to mix things. I am such a girly girl, so it was literally my heaven.”

Sinful Colors’ debut cosmetics launch features strobing sticks, liners, mascara and shadows in an array of vibrant and daring shades, which Hudgens believes anyone can pull off. “I think the thing that is so fun about makeup is just if you feel like it is too much you can always wipe it off,” Hudgens said. “Don’t feel like you have to play by the rules. You can do whatever your heart desires as long as you feel good.”
Experimenting with her ever-changing beauty looks is one of the actress’ favorite parts about getting ready for a red carpet appearance, too. “It’s so much fun to be able to transform yourself into different people with your looks,” she shared. “I feel like I take on different personalities, so it is fun to be able to explore different sides of yourself.”
When it comes to her off-duty makeup style, Hudgens says it changes every day. “I am very low maintenance. Some days I won’t wear makeup at all and other days I will do a bold lip with tons of eye shadow and a colored mascara,” she laughed. “It just depends on my mood.”
And since she’s been doing makeup on herself for almost her entire life, Hudgens developed a bit of a secret talent for creating a killer smoky eye. “I’m really good at doing my eyes and layering on a bunch of different shadows,” she said. She’s also perfected a winged liner — and revealed her secret: “Have Q-tips at hand! I wet it and fix it up so it looks as even as possible.”
Diva Lash Color Mascara in Lashing Out
“It’s this beautiful burgundy color and a really fun way to add something funky to the look without it being too aggressively in your face.”
Stop & Stare Gel Eyeliner in Seductive and Intense
“They’re really pigmented and go on super smooth. I love lathering on Seductive, which is a rose color, just all over my lid and then popping on Intense (a plum) on my lash line. It is just so fun.”
Face Forward Highlighting Stick
“I feel like this is something I can’t live without. It’s great to pop on when you’re feeling tired because I feel like it just brightens up your face.”
