Legendary British musician talks the world’s hottest spots, being a dad and eating ants.

Being a DJ is all the rage at the moment. But when Norman Cook left his indie rock past behind and adopted the stagename Fatboy Slim in the mid-90s, it was a rather risky move. At the time dance music was still an underdog of a genre. Turns out, all the dance world needed to properly blossom was this particularly gifted enthusiast with a cheeky name who not only pioneered the big beat music, but also made the MTV generation pay closer attention to what was going on in the clubs. Twenty years later, Fatboy Slim still does what he does best: making people dance and showing his younger colleagues how it’s really done. We called up mister Cook to discuss his favorite touring destinations, beloved food and being a dad behind the turntables.

Glastonbury

Talking about my favorite party destination, Glastonbury would be my obvious number one. I played every single Glastonbury for the last 17 years. When you think about how the crowd has changed over these years, you realize that crowd is always the crowd. There are a lot of older people who’s been coming there for years. And then there are young people. So there are all these different tribes that co-exist and for one weekend we all live in this wonderful city. The wonderful thing about Glastonbury is that there are circus fields, theatrical fields, there are films. It’s also not just rock & roll and dance music. So you can move around.
