Chances are you’ve already heard The Brevet’s Americana sound without even realizing it. Their music is often heard in the background of TV show like 90210 or Fox’s game shows. They’ve been touring the country for several years now and released a new EP Embers: Ch. 2 this week. Trust us, if your summer involves a road trip, you won’t find a better soundtrack for your journey.

Myspace chatted with the guys to find out a little more about the band's beginnings and the new EP.

Hometown/homebase? Most of us grew up in Irvine, CA. Michael and I have been friends since the second grade and I’m sure Ben and I were on a soccer team when we were like 13.

How did you guys meet?

Michael and I grew up together and while Michael was in college he met David (drums) during a session.

What’s the story of your band’s name?

A Brevet rank was given in the Revolutionary and Civil War. It was given out of honor and merit, and you didn’t receive pay for the new duties you were expected to do. We thought this was fitting for us as a band. We aren’t doing this for some type of fame or money. We just love playing and creating music together and hope that translates to audiences.

You’re playing a bunch of shows this year. Which one was so far the most remarkable one?

We had such a great time playing Summerfest this year. I think the coolest thing was getting to check out some of our favorite bands throughout the day and night! We also really loved playing in New York City. It was our first time as a band performing there and the audience was just amazing!

Let’s talk about your new album. What’s special about this one?

We feel like this album is an evolution of the band. We really are attempting to break out of our comfort zones and try new things. I feel like that comes through in these new songs!

What’s the best thing to do on a tour bus and no, you can’t say “sleep”!

Who’s in charge of your clothing, grooming and all that?

We kind of just do our on things. I think we just have similar tastes in clothes!

Your song was featured on 90210. Which teen show would you like to get inside in a dream scenario?

Honestly any CW show! They do such a good job in showcasing your music the right way. Netflix shows are awesome as well!

How wild do you get when you’re partying?

We don’t really get to party too hard. Especially when we’ve got to start driving to our next stop right after a show. Good thing we did a lot of that in college.
