Duo behind the “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” remix make a playlist of their favorite reworked songs.
Simen Eriksrud and Espen Berg of SeeB know a thing or two about a good remix. At the end of the day, it was their deep house rendition of Mike Posner’s acoustic ballad “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” that put the faded popstar back to the charts and will without any doubt be something that every DJ at Ibiza will be spinning this summer.
So when we asked the Norwegian duo, who just released their debut record, Breath, to pick their favorite remixes of all time, we knew they were more than fit for the task. Check out their playlist and track commentary below.
The Chainsmokers – "Don't Let Me Down" (Illenium Remix)
To remix such a great song that's already a big hit isn't easy, but Illenium did a really great job, and we love it. Has such a great energy to it.
Kiiara - "Feels" (Jai Wolf Remix)
This feels like someone just poured some warm butter into the ear. Such a great feeling and melodic sweetness. Love his production style.
Kaskade – "Disarm You" feat. Ilsey (Illenium Remix)
We love Illenium's remixes and this is no exception. We like that the remix is more downtempo, cause it gives Ilsey's vocal more space and she has a amazing voice. Also it has a great vocal drop.
Just a Gent – "Limelight" (Smle Remix)
When you hear this, it sounds just like the sound of summer. Great almost jazzy vibe but full of nice details. A bag of ear candy.
Everything but the Girl - "Missing" (Todd Terry's Club Mix)
Can't get away without mentioning this one. For us, it's the one that started the whole fascination of remixing. What Todd Terry did was to take a slower acoustic song and re-imagine it in a different setting to bring the magic of the original out. To us this is the mothership.
Years & Years - "Desire" (Gryffin Remix)
Gryffin did a good job on this and it sounds really cool. A fresh sound and it makes you feel the summer is here again. We like it. Also the video is a work of art, so trippy.
Mike Posner - "I Took A Pill In Ibiza" (Seeb Remix)
It's hard not to mention our own remix of Mike Posner's song. We were a bit shocked with how big it has became and it all feels a bit unreal now. What we like most about this one is the feeling we got from listening to the lyrics while doing it in this almost kind of tropical vibe. It suddenly all made sense and the emotive message of the original song suddenly felt stronger. That was when we knew we were onto something special.
Major Lazer - "Light it Up" feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG (Remix)
Major Lazer has to be included here. This remix of their own song is no exception. It's really cool and it is one of those songs that's easy to like. Huge hit!
Imagine Dragons – "Shots" (Broiler Remix)
Our fellow Norwegian friends Broiler took this song from a great one to an amazing one. This is for sure one of the best remixes of 2015. The first time we heard what they did with the drop was a big surprise to us, but they smashed it.
The Weeknd - "The Hills" (RL Grime Remix)
