“At 17 years old, I was clinically depressed. Then, I had discovered this love for making music…”

From there, Nitty polished her skills and began scripting indelible bars to match the intensity of Andre's masterful verse. Before she segued into an Andre 3000 style of rapper, she morphed into B. Rabbit from 8 Mile, after partaking in a lyrical spar with an opposing student at her school.

"I was beefing with this girl at school and it had transferred over to our Myspace profiles! [laughs] We were on Myspace abusing all of the terms and conditions, right? Just coming for each other. I remember one night being with my brother, who at the time was really into like battles, like with Fight Klub. He actually put me on to the battle scene and I think getting put on to the battle stuff while simultaneously dealing with this girl I don't like who's coming for me, I was like, ‘Yo, I'm about to write a rap. I'm about to come for her head,’ and that's what we did."

With an abundance of talent and charisma, Nitty harnessed her God-given gifts and began sparking different ideas to tackle her dreams of being a rapper. After being embroiled in a web of drama involving her parents’ muddy relationship, she daringly attempted to do the unthinkable.

"I was in a very dysfunctional home situation. There was really a lack of stability. I went to nine different schools. My parents had gotten divorced and then re-married. It was just a very messy home life. I was very depressed about that at 17. At 17 years old, I was like clinically depressed. Then, I had discovered this love for making music and also being received and accepted as a dope artist just on campus, nothing crazy. But just being embraced by all the other artists around me and having them validate that was kind of like a ray of hope in the midst of a very shitty home life."
