Let your ink flow with your body and it'll all look better.

Theme Your Arms

We're not saying you need a sleeve to have your tattoos look like they all belong together. Unless you get your neck or face done, your arms will likely be the most visible ink you ever get, so it's worth it to have everything flow together. Now, theming a limb doesn't necessarily mean you have to get all one subject matter or all done by one artist. It can be as simple as dedicating an entire arm to a certain color scheme (or no color at all) or getting similar styles of tattoos done throughout.

A detailed black and gray portrait might look a little out of place next to an old school American traditional pinup in the same way that a watercolor mandala might not fit perfectly with that blackwork skull you got done at a tattoo convention. Considering that arms are usually some of the first locations to get tattooed, don't be afraid to work with what you already have to tie everything together. Having one out of place tattoo is better than having an entirely randomly assorted limb.

Don't Ignore Your Legs

There's some prime real estate on your legs if you approach them the right way. Sure, leg tattoos may not be seen as often as some other spots (unless you live life with your pants off, in which case you should definitely decorate your legs), but they provide great opportunities that you can't otherwise get.

For one thing, getting your entire leg sleeved provides an unmatched canvas for an artist to do some extremely big work. If we're talking from your butt to your foot, that's a sizable chunk of your body for anyone to fill in. But beyond getting your entire leg blasted by one artist, your thighs can be fantastic areas to get inked both because of the size and the fact that they're (probably) not exposed to the elements quite as much as the rest of you. The other nice benefit of getting your legs covered is that they're a great place to collect from random artists, as you can always cover them up with a pair of jeans if you're in a situation in which you don't want to show off that "Rick Walters Hates You" flash to your grandparents.
