Originally known as American Taxi, AM Taxi is a Chicago-based quintet that takes its cues from the Replacements, Bruce Springsteen, and melodic punk groups.
Frontman Adam Krier and bassist Jason Schultejann first worked together as members of Lucky Boys Confusion, a ska-punk band that briefly signed with Elektra Records during the early 2000s. Following the group’s demise toward the end of the decade, the two enlisted the help of drummer Chris Smith and formed a new power trio, eventually rounding out the lineup with brothers John and Luke Schmitt. AM Taxi became a popular act in Chicago, and a pair of self-released EPs helped attract the attention of Virgin Records. After signing with the label, the guys decamped to Austin to record a debut album, We Don’t Stand a Chance, with was released in summer 2010. ~ Andrew Leahey
